Meet The Sheep

From flock to finished garment!

I have a flock of gotland sheep - an unusual breed in the UK, originating from the island of Gotland, off the coast of Sweden. They have luxurious long fleeces with a sheen to the curls which continues into the wool when it is spun creating a gorgeous soft and silky tweed. We shear the sheep then get the wool spun at The Border Mill, a tiny independent micro-mill in the Scottish borders. We then weave the yarn into tweed and sew it into luxury shawls, scarves, throws and neckwarmers. The male lambs and cross-bred ewe lambs are looked after and given the best life possible for 18 months then the meat is sold and we eat it ourselves and the skins are sent to be tanned to create beautiful rugs. Nothing is wasted if we can possibly use it!
